“The Mango Room”
GAAH partnered with MACV Studio Arts Fellowship in Fall 2024 to paint a research room at the Cook Arts Library. Fellows renovated existing decor and designed vibrant trees to cover the walls. They learned layering processes to develop dimensionality and texture.
New City Kids
New City Kids and MACV Studio collaborated in Spring 2024 to beautify the hallways and classrooms of the NCK building. Fellows primed, sketched, taped, painted, sanded and ultimately created an entirely new environment for the music students of this amazing organization.
Lafontsee Gallery
In October 2024, MACV fellows assisted our director, Mandy Cano Villalobos, in the construction of Dog in Heat (for Jezebel). This massive installation engulphed viewers in a menagerie of red objects, creating a sumptuous experience rooted in the ancient tale of evil queen Jezebel. Fellows participated in almost every stage of the project - from collection, transportation, and installation, to gallery meetings, publicity, and deinstallation.
